Hailing from Mafikeng, brothers Heemal and Aashish Gangaram and Matthew Bowen came together to form Ganja Beatz and have become one of the countries’ top hitmakers, producing for the likes of Cassper Nyovest, Riky Rick, YoungstaCPT, Stogie T and Nadia Nakai.

The trio visited Red Bull Studios Cape Town for a week of beat making and recording with some of the city’s freshest MCs, vocalists and producers. We caught up with them to find out how it all started, how things have evolved, they’re move into the advertising industry, artist management and what they’ve been working on in studio.

Do you think working with guys like Cassper Nyovest and Riky Rick early in their career helped you get your foot in the door?
